Our Role
Dauntless recognizes the instrumental role management plays in the success or failure of an investment, and prefers situations in which strong management teams are in place and prepared to co-invest along side of Dauntless. In such situations, as in management buy-outs, Dauntless plays an active role at Board level, working with managers to achieve their objectives.
Structuring our transactions to include significant equity appreciation opportunities for management teams is an article of faith.
In under-managed situations we contribute typically through the development and oversight of refocused short term performance improvement action plans and long-term strategic plans; improvement of internal controls and management disciplines; development of new market opportunities; and acquisition of complementary businesses.
In situations where businesses have been under-managed or in which new strategic direction requires additional skill sets, Dauntless principals have undertaken transitional operating roles as a bridge to permanent management solutions. This ability to be "hands-on" provides Dauntless the means to pursue special situations.
