Invested with partners in acquiring control of publicly listed Core Mark
International Inc, a $2.5 billion per year distributor of consumer products to
convenience stores in Canada and the US. Reversed the negative earnings and sold
the company to private buyers.
Led the acquisition and turnaround of Loomis Armored Inc, North America's third
largest armored transport company and subsequently merged it with Wells Fargo
Armored to become the present day Loomis Fargo & Company.
Led the acquisition and management of Kimpex, a distributor of after-market
parts and accessories to the snowmobile, motorcycle and marine industries and
took the Company public in an IPO.
Acquired the Canadian Yarn Divisions of Dominion Textiles and consolidated the
two divisions into a new stand-alone company named Cavalier Textiles LLC.
Cavalier Textiles acquired the specialty yarn operations of the Dixie Yarn
Company and operated four specialty yarn plants in the U.S. and Canada and two
commodity yarn plants in Canada with combined sales in excess of $220 million.
Acquired LaGran Canada Inc., a manufacturer of narrow fabric and warp knit
products. LaGran is a leading non-captive supplier of seat-belt webbing to Tier
I automotive suppliers in North America. In addition, the Company's warp knit
division is a supplier of warp knit tricot and elastomeric fabrics to the U.S.
and Canadian apparel industry.
Acquired a manufacturer of packaging equipment for the consumer products and
pharmaceutical industries. The Company subsequently acquired several add-on
businesses including a manufacturer of high-speed palletizers and depalletizers,
a technological leader in producing case, pallet and tier sheet washers and a
manufacturer of capsule filling machines and other fabricated parts for a
diverse list of industrial clients.
Invested $22 million of start-up capital in Four Leaf Textiles, a new
state-of-the-art ring-spun specialty yarn mill. Four Leaf has been the only
major start-up of a green field specialty yarn mill in more than a decade.
Demand for its competitive high quality product led to Four Leaf's acquisition
of and re-equipping of specialty yarn mills from Stonecutter and Shelby Yarns.
Established Pacific Mercantile Bank (NASDAQ), currently a publicly traded $825
million commercial bank headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA and serving the middle
corporate customer with sophisticated electronic capabilities.
Led the
recapitalization and turnaround of publicly traded Signature Eyewear Inc (OTC),
a fashion eyeframe manufacturer with licenses from Laura Ashley, Eddie Bauer,
bebe, Hart Shaffner & Marx, Nicole Miller, Dakota Smith and Hummer Eyegear.
Acquired JLM Foodservices, Inc, a 30 year old, frozen fish processor and
sourcer/processor to the foodservice industry. This rapidly growing manufacturer
serves high profile customers through its strategic relationship with NYSE
listed SYSCO Corp.
Participated in the recapitalization and turnaround at 113-year-old Cosco, Inc.,
largest custom rubber stamp manufacturing company in North America. Products
include marking, stamping and box cutting items for the office and personal
needs. Expanded distribution in US and Canada to multi-location office supply
chains and single unit print shops.
Led the venture financing requirements of OTC traded Braintech Inc, a designer
and developer of software for vision guided robotics (VGR) systems. Braintech
has initially developed a family of advanced vision technologies specifically
for the industrial robotics market and has entered into a strategic partnership
with the world's leading robotics manufacturer, ABB, to co-market its TrueView
line of VGR solutions.
We are currently leading the
turnaround of Bush's International Pty Limited based in Sydney Australia, a
$200mm revenue pet food manufacturer. One of Australia's largest consumer
products companies, this market leader has a stable of recognizable pet brands.
Invested in TV Magic Inc. based in San Diego with operations also in Los Angeles
and New York, delivering complex broadcast systems design and integration
solutions to customers across the US and some international markets. This
industry leader was experiencing 50% annual revenue growth and we were
instrumental in building a sustainable structure to support continuing growth.
National Sports Grill, an iconic sports bar in central Orange County, CA, has
been acquired as a prototype for sports based entertainment. Concepts to
dramatically expand revenues are in the early stages of implementation with
promising results and further gains in profitability.
